Whether you are seeking direction related to college major exploration, or are desiring ways to improve your academic confidence and performance, I am an experienced educational counselor who can assist you in understanding more about yourself and your approach to your education and learning.

In terms of college major exploration, I can help you evaluate your abilities, interests, personality,  skills, and values as a method to narrow down your choices. I am also a qualified interpreter of the Myers-Briggs Type Indicator and Strong Interest Inventory and can arrange for you to complete these assessments as part of our work together. We can also explore employment trends and labor market data to assist in your decision-making process.

Related to academic improvement, educational counseling evaluates the cognitive, social, and emotional patterns that influence learning, motivation, and academic behavior/performance. In this arena, I am not qualified to administer educational testing for classroom accommodations or make recommendations for IEPs in schools. The goal of our work together is to reduce anxiety while increasing self-awareness, confidence, motivation, and performance.

In the context of educational counseling, my therapeutic approach can be best described as supportive, empathic, fun, and solution-focused, while also taking the time to evaluate you as a whole individual. Educational counseling areas of focus can include:

  • Academic anxiety
  • ADHD
  • College major exploration
  • Finding meaning
  • Increasing motivation
  • Brain-based learning strategies
  • Managing expectations
  • Personality exploration
  • Procrastination behaviors
  • Self-confidence/self-esteem concerns
  • Stress Reduction
  • Values Exploration
